Foreign Exchange Students

My coffee roastery/bakery company has participated in hiring foreign exchange students for summer and winter employment for almost 10 years, and with great success!!! We always hire the best- of- the-best and it has been a fantastic experience for all involved. We are in a very popular beach resort area, conveniently located between New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. Traveling throughout the summer and winter is highly encouraged. It gives the students an opportunity to take a few 2-3 day trips to these near-by points of interest. It also allows them more travel time when the work portion of their America experience has come to a close. The end of the summer is always a bitter-sweet time for us. We have said farewell to some amazing, beautiful, fun and smart students, that my staff and I call friends. It is hard to say "goodbye," but we are always excited for them to experience all the great things the U.S. offers.

Here are what some of the former students had to say:

"It (the summer in America) was the most amazing summer adventure I've had and I will remember it forever! I wouldn't trade the experiences of that summer for anything."-
Loiuse, Glasgow, Scotland, summer 2000

"The Coffee Roastery will without doubt give you the best summer of your life. Although hard work, the job is fun and well paid. Working with friendly staff and serving equally friendly customers provides a huge insight to the American culture and promises the best time whilst working." "The town of Lewes is amazing. Small but beautiful, the first town in the first state has excellent transport facilities providing easy access to nearby Rehoboth and student packed beaches. There is plenty to do, loads of places to eat out and a good night life. (In particular the R & C!)"

"What really struck me about Lewes, Delaware was the people. Unbelievably friendly locals, who we'd never met before, bent over backwards to make us feel welcome. Before long the Coffee Roastery house was part of a very tight and giving community."

"If you're looking to travel at the end of the summer, Trek America is without doubt the best way to go. Although expensive, it is definitely worth every penny and the best money I have ever spent. There are a number of routes to choose from, each with a wide range of activities offered to you, mostly included in the price. Trek America took me from New York to LA in 21 days, during which I went white water rafting in Tennessee, camped with indians in Monument Valley, took a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon and Sky dived over Las Vegas and much much more."
Ben, South Glamorgan, Wales, summer 2002

"Three years on and its still the best summer I ever had".
Jilly, Sutherland, Scotland summer 2000

"My summer at the Coffee Roastery was one of my best ever - the coffee shop can be hardwork, but the people, the tips and the beach definitley make worth it. I would do it again tomorrow if had the chance".
Jonathan, Stockport, England, summer 2000

"Its safe to say that my Lewes experience is still with me to this day as one of my lifes highlights - I'm still boring my friends with my American Tale's to this day!"
Richard, Liverpool, England, summer 1999

"Would die for a blueberry muffin and a cafe caramel!"
Sarah, Cambridge, England, summer 2002

Customer say: " 'oh, just keep talking, your accent is so cute!' ". We had such a good laugh at the Coffee Roastery, there are so many good memories...Have to say that I still miss life in Lewes! I don't think I'll ever have a summer like it again, and really want to come back at some point. We all became so close too, I regard Ben and Gemma especially as really good friends. I would love to come back to the states to work again... " Jasmine, Berks, England, summer 2002

"Hi Amy, I just wanted to thank you again for making my summer with you lot AMAZING! I have such brilliant memories and have made some great friends, Ben, Lou, Jasmine and I have already met up a few times back here in England! Also just for reference for your next year students, I would highly recomend Trek America for travelling at the end of the summer. It was the BEST travelling experience I have ever done EVER!!!! I met another whole load of fun, happy and crazy students and saw some amazing sights in New York, Chicago, Ohio, Indiana, Tennesse, Washington DC and so much more, I got to go on hikes, maid of the mist boat tour at Niagra Falls, white water rafting, cave touring etc etc etc, I could go on forever!"
Gemma, Guernsey, U.K., summer 2002

"Just thought I'd e-mail you to say thanks for everything. I had the best summer of my life and missing it already...Had a great time travelling as well...went to NYC, the Colorado Rockies, San Francisco, LA."
Jake, South Yorkshire, England, summer 2002.
